Engine Light Diagnostics

WHAT IS IT

Think of the check engine light as an early warning system that tells you when your car needs to be checked. When this light comes on in your car it can mean anything from a faulty gas cap to a more serious engine malfunction…but something is definitely wrong.

WHY DO IT

You don’t want to take chances when it comes to your car’s engine. Even small problems, if left alone, can develop into major repairs. The best way to know what is going on when that check engine light comes on is to take a trip to your Master Mechanic for diagnostic testing.

HOW IT’S SERVICED

When the check engine light comes on, your car’s computer will store a corresponding Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in its memory. Your technician will use a computer scanning device to retrieve the code to understand what is malfunctioning in your car. Getting the code is just a starting point. This code will not tell your technician why your check engine light turned on so further troubleshooting or diagnostic tests may be needed to find, and then fix, the problem.
